Caracterización de las cercas vivas y la avifauna asociada en la vereda San Felipe, Microcuenca Mijitayo, municipio de Pasto
This study was conducted in the wathershed Mijitayo, municipality of Pasto, Nariño, Colombia with the purpose of characterize the life fences and birdas associated with them. In this way for characterization of living fences inventory by linear transects where the frequency, abundance, dominance and importance value index of species was found it was obtained. To evaluate the bird observations were made in field sampling by the method of counting by fixed points which was to stablish four points along the hedges every 50 meters apart from each other and avoid recount, this way with the results alternatives for biodiversity conservation were proposed. Thus a total of 12 families and 19 species for living fences was obtained, which ecologically Alnus Jorullensis, Acacia decurrens and Acacia melanoxylon highlighted. As for the taxonomic group of birds 416 individuals belonging to 7 families and 8 where the most abundant species were the dove (Zenaida auriculata), Sparrow (Zonotrichia capensis) and the short-tailed hummingbird (Colibri coruscans) was recorded. Thus, it was found that birds have a close relationship with the tree species because they provide food, habitat, and wind protection, among others. Finally the alternatives proposed for the conservation of birds are to conduct reforestation and restauration, create incentives for producers to contribute to the conservation of hedgerows and implement agroforestry systems.
