Fish catch
Contains the total landings of fish, shellfish, and other biomass harvest from the ocean in Cape Town. These figures include landings at Cape Town's ports, even if the actual catch may have happened out in the open sea.
The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) collects information on fish catch in South Africa. There is no central database and information is available only through submitting a Public Access To Information Act (PAIA) request. After approval, data on fish landings was provided one by one by relevant scientists.
Upfront it was reported that no information was available on these catches for Cape Town:
- Small scale fishers
- Recreational line fishers
- Hake inshore trawl
