This shapefile is available through a web soil survey, a facility provided by the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE. From the website - https://websoilsurvey.sc.egov.usda.gov/App/HomePage.htm, it is possible to download soil survey maps of any counties within the USA by creating an area of interest. This website also allows downloading a pdf/report of the soil survey. This shapefile covers cook county, the city of Chicago is part of it. So it is necessary to process this file to focus only on the city of Chicago.
